Ninja Pulse Frozen Drinks

15 Jan

Making frozen drinks can be quick and easy with a Ninja Pulse blender.  In today’s economy, many people are doing what they can to reduce their expenses.  Unfortunately, this means oftentimes we have to do without small luxuries such as a blended coffee or a Jamba Juice drink.

Something most people do not realize is that these drinks are actually quite simple to make at home.  You don’t even need any special equipment, a standard blender will suffice.  Many home blenders do not quite get the texture of commercial drinks, but most of the time people won’t even notice.

Having said that, if someone is planning on making these drinks frequently, they may want to make sure they get a powerful blender since these sorts of drinks can and will burn out a blender over time if you make them on a frequent basis.

If you do plan on making such drinks on a frequent basis, you may want to consider the Ninja Pulse blender.  The Ninja Pulse is a very powerful, 700-watt blender that has a 16oz personal blending cup as well as a larger 40oz bowl.  The personal drink size allows it to make smaller drinks quickly and efficiently, but is not going to burn out.

Many people make drinks in their Magic Bullet blenders, but the Magic Bullet is only 250 watts and there have been many user complaints about burnout.  The Ninja Pulse also has a slightly different blade setup on the personal size cup, which allows it to blast through ice and frozen fruit quickly and efficiently.

The 40oz pitcher has an even different blade setup, with tiered blades on a spindle instead of one small blade assembly at the bottom.  This is beneficial because it pulverizes ice more efficiently than any other blender on the market, and the spindle is removable, making the pitcher microwave-safe.

For those contemplating on making the switch, it is a good idea to keep one rule of thumb in mind – for blended drinks of any sort, you want to keep your solids to liquids in a 2-to-1 ratio (volume).  For instance, if you want a 12-oz smoothie, you would use 1 1/2 cups of frozen fruit and ice, to 6 oz of liquid.  That is a starting point that will work for most drinks, though obviously there will be some variation depending on other ingredients.

Saving money these days is important.  The average coffeeshop customer can save approximately $1000/year simply by making the switch to making their own drinks at home.   It is a worthwhile investment to get a tool such as the Ninja Pulse blender, which will help save money for years to come.

Ninja Pulse Worm Food

13 Jan

My wife just got a new Ninja Pulse blender not too long ago.  She got it for herself to help her with her new Paleo lifestyle.  Apparently the Ninja Pulse does a lot of things that really help her with how she eats. I, however, ended up finding a pretty unusual use for it.

You see, I raise worms.  They live in a bin in my basement, and I feed them food scraps from our kitchen.  They turn the food scraps into compost, so I think that’s a pretty good arrangement.  One thing I’ve always done is blend up their food scraps for them.  The finer the texture of their food, the quicker they are able to go through it.  I was keeping a container in the fridge for the scraps, and adding to it until I had enough to run through the blender.

But now with the Ninja Pulse, I can just blend up the day’s worth of scraps all at once.  The small cup is the perfect size to handle just a little bit, and if I end up having more on certain days, I can use the big 40oz bowl.

The other nice thing is the way the Ninja Pulse blades are set up, on top of each other, they blend much more efficiently with less water.  I always have to add some water to help get the right texture but less water is a good thing because then I don’t have to use so much paper bedding and not as much leakage.  So, I’ve really been enjoying my wife’s Ninja pulse… and she’s been enjoying not having a container of food scraps in her fridge.

Ninja Pulse Hummus

5 Jan

I just got my Ninja Pulse blender, and I got it for one thing – hummus.  I know it might sound weird but I’ve burned out more blenders making hummus over the years than should be legal.  My husband loves the stuff and it’s pretty expensive to buy but cheap to make, so I always just make my own.

Hummus is easy to make – just blend up chickpeas with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice and seasonings.  Some people like it a real smooth consistency but we like it to have a little more texture and not be so much like baby food. The nice thing about the Ninja Pulse is that I can tailor the hummus to how we like to eat it, so while we prefer a chunkier hummus, some people prefer a smooth consistency.  The Ninja Pulse will do it all!

So here’s why I really like it… I used to make big batches of hummus in the blender but like many people, I have an overcrowded fridge and they would get lost.  I can’t tell you how many times I have found a nearly-full container of the stuff, moldy and inedible, hidden behind the mayonnaise.

Being able to make small amounts at a time has saved us a lot of money, actually, and makes things easier.  At least once a week, I make up a batch really quick in the morning and send it off to work with my husband along with some veggies.  It’s an easy, healthy lunch and you can’t beat the convenience of using the Ninja Pulse blender to make it fresh each time.

Ninja Pulse Hot Sauce

3 Jan

Homemade hot sauce is easy & quick with a Ninja Pulse blender!

A few years go, my husband got a generic bullet blender as a gift.  He’d used my sister’s Magic Bullet when we were staying with her to make his own hot sauce concoction and she saw how much he loved the convenience of it that she got him his own.

You see, my husband is a crazy spicy pepper loving kinda guy.  No, I mean… really crazy.  This man is not happy until his food is so spicy his nose is running and sweat is pouring down his face.  So he had a lot of fun blending up various kinds of peppers, onions, cilantro, and pretty much whatever into his own raw hot sauce.

It only took about a year of use before the generic blender died, though.  This year I was going to get him a new one but then I saw an informercial about the Ninja bullet type blender they called the “Ninja Pulse.”  Come to find out, that same sister had gotten a Ninja Pulse to make hummus with.

I actually have the full-size Ninja 1100 blender system myself and I adore the thing (use it almost every day) so I figured my husband would love the Ninja Pulse.  So, that’s what he got.  Fancy that… a wife buying her husband a blender for Christmas!

Well, he did love it!  What he’d been doing up until then was chopping his jalapenos, serranos and habanero peppers by hand for each meal.  Yes, he puts peppers on everything,  But the Ninja Pulse blender made it so much easier for him.

Whether he wants a finer, smoother consistency or a chunky, more chopped consistency, the Ninja Pulse can do it.  There’s a little bit of a learning curve to pulse it just right but it didn’t take long and now he’s able to save a ton of time by making a cup of his pepper mixture every couple days instead of manually chopping them up each time.

So, in our case, the Ninja Pulse was a great buy.  Even if that’s all we ever use it for, it was still worth it.
